This course is designed for children’s services staff who have participated in ‘Identifying and Responding to Risk of Harm’ workshops after October 2004 and who wish to refresh their memories prior to doing the Assessment required under the Children’s Services Regulations 2004.
Target group: All children’s services staff. Staff of children’s services who do not have direct contact but need to know the basics around the new legislation and children’s services roles and responsibilities, e.g. administrative staff, cooks, etc.
Note: It is not for staff who participated in the Making a Difference Package prior to 2003 and wish to apply for the assessment required by the Regulations.
Participants will learn about the aims and purpose of the legislations protecting children and young people from being at risk of harm; your role as a mandatory reporter, (yes - even if you’re the admin. assistant or the cook!); awareness about the different ways children and young people can be put at risk; your role and responsibilities when you have concerns for a child or young person - and then how to respond.
The course is conducted over a three hour period. Course content, certificate of attendance and light refreshments are included. The cost includes GST.
